Option locations of any documents allows us to work either using the links created when building CAD models regardless of the locations of the folders in which the CAD models are, either by limiting to one or more specific directories paths 3D models of research .

You must configure the locations of the documents so they can be reassembled without errors assemblies in CATIA .

If you are using ENOVIA or SmarTeam , you do not have to configure options for document location , otherwise :

1^er, 1 single directory of work, all the elements are created and assembled in this directory:

enable the option ” document folder pointing , ” it will not bother to activate the other options, we add more location options file , the greater the risk of going point to elements are not the correct versions (copies in other directories … ) and increases the loading times of

2nd case , several working directory : Disable the “link” directory and configure the paths of the files containing the CAD elements with “Other files” . If you move the models from one directory to another and if in these directories are referenced in the ” Other Files” , the head assembly find any patterns constituting it, if this directory is not listed it will reconfigure the option ” Other files” .

3rd case , several working directory, the assembly of models have been registered in different folders using CATIA, either by the records manager or by the command “save as”, in this case the options document locations we only select  “Folder relative”

Attention au enregistrement des fichiers, à chaque fichiers créés, un UUID lui est attribué (Unique Universal IDentifier)  cet identifiant est unique à chaque fichiers et est inscrit dans ce fichier.

Si je fais un copier/coller d’un fichier dans Windows et le renomme du nom du fichier original et bien que ce fichiers soit identique à l’original et porte le même nom ils auront tout les deux un UUID différent.

Ce qui veut dire que si j’ai un assemblage  constitué de plusieurs éléments et que si je crée une pièce avec CATIA et que je la renomme dans Windows avec le même nom qu’une pièce faisant partie de l’assemblage à l’ouverture de cet assemblage j’aurais une erreur de chargement de composant, même si les fichiers sont identiques leurs UUID sont différents et CATIA les considérera comme différentes.

De même si sous CATIA j’exécute la commande “enregistrer sous” en donnant un nom identique à un fichier existant, le fichier enregistré aura un UUID différent, si ce fichier fait parti d’un assemblage qui n’est pas en session, à l’ouverture de cet assemblage la pièce enregistrée ne sera pas chargée car considérée comme différente par son UUID.
